Curfew has been imposed by the government across the country to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. Other than essential products, all shops are closed, and normal life of people has been disrupted. There were reports earlier that in the absence of the availability of alcohol, some people tried different drinks to replace the alcohol, and were hospitalised due to the wrong consumption. Now, the latest reports are that veteran actress Manorama‘s son Bhoopathi consumed sleeping pills and had to be hospitalized because of an overdose.

After the curfew was issued, bars and alcohol shops have been closed. Manorama’s son Bhoopathi reportedly has an addiction for alcohol, and depressed by the lack of alcohol, he apparently consumed an overdose of sleeping pills. He had to be later taken to a hospital to save him from succumbing to the overdose. Bhoopathi is reportedly undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai and is being treated by doctors. However, these reports about Bhoopathi have surely shocked Kollywood celebrities and Manorama’s fans. But there has been no confirmation from Bhoopathi’s family or the hospital in this regard.

Manorama had appeared in more than 1500 films, 5,000 stage performances and several television series. The actress married her drama troupe manager SM Ramanathan in 1964 and got divorced in 1966. Manorama then started to live separately with her son Bhoopathi, and continued to act in movies. Later, the talented actress passed away at the age of 78 in 2015.
