Validity of driving license, vehicle fitness renewal extended till June 30

“Since it is not possible to renew documents during lockdown, various documents related to Motor Vehicle Act 1998 and CMV rukes 1989 whose validity expires between February 1, 2020 and June 20, 2020 will be treated as vaild till June 30,” said Nitin Gadkari, Union minister for road transport and highways.
Government road transport offices have been shut due to the nationwide lockdown since March 25, 2020. The government imposed the third phase of lockdown on May 4 and classified the country in three zones based on the degree of Covid-19 impact.
The government also informed that ‘non-use clause facility’ provided by VAHAN platform online, can now be accessed for the suspension of tax liability in order to give relief to the commercial vehicles like taxi, buses and more which are non-operational at present.
