Skoda Rapid will be available only in 6-speed manual gearbox. The sedan is likely to get a DSG gearbox, much like the Volkswagen Polo and Vento, later in the year
Skoda is expected to launch the Rapid once the lockdown is lifted while the Czech carmakers are accepting the bookings against a token of Rs 25,000. Skoda will also launch the Karoq as soon as normalcy returns.
The 2020 Skoda Rapid will on go sale in five trims – Active, Ambition, Onyx, Style and Monte Carlo. Manufacturers took Auto Expo to display the facelifted edition. Petrol version of Rapid is expected to be priced around Rs 8.5 lakh – Rs 11.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Earlier, Rapid was also available in 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel powertrain.
Skoda has opted for digitise their sales platform amid the Covid-19 outbreak. Zac Hollis, brand director, Skoda Auto India, said, “We championed an online sales experience with the launch of the Octavia RS 245. The results were astonishing, and the two hundred units of the RS 245 sold out in a jiffy! It has compelled the brand to extend the facility across its product portfolio. The move is apt and acknowledges the demand for a contactless experience. Skoda Auto will continue to support the nation’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic with numerous CSR initiatives.
