Bennett University, organised two webinar sessions ‘
Careers in Law’ under the framework of BULexConvo Series V on 29th and 30th April 2020. The webinar enlightened the students regarding the endless possibilities in the ever-evolving field of law and resolved their queries in a live interactive session with the esteemed panellists.
The first session with the theme ‘The Road Often taken’ was based on a more traditional approach to the placement scenario in the
Legal Industry. The highly qualified and experienced professionals Mr Shivankar Sharma, Commercial & Civil Lawyer, Delhi High Court and Ms Roli Sharma, Corporate Counsel, Amazon India interacted with the students in a live session. In their previous work experience, they were associated with India’s top law firm ‘Shardul Amarchand Mangalda’. They talked about the placement process and the right approach to crack into Tier-1 law firms. The esteemed panellists also narrated various success stories describing how students from
Private Law Schools got the best jobs in the legal field competing with students from NLU’s.
The second session with the theme ‘The Path Beyond Commercial Law & Litigation’ highlighted an ‘out of the box’ approach, by hosting speakers that have chosen paths beyond the ordinary fields of corporate law and litigation. Capt. Gunjit Tripathi, First Officer, Vistara and Capt. Arvind Raman, Judge Advocate Generals Department, Indian Army interacted with the BU law students. Capt. Gunjit Tripathi inspired students about pursuing their passion and narrated that how studying law helped him in joining as a commercial pilot. He also stated that it is easier for law students to join various opportunities in the aviation industry. Capt. Arvind was the second speakers who enlightened the audience about life as a Judge Advocate General in the Indian Army. He also discussed the details of entry into JAG by giving key points on its entrance exam, preparation and timing. Both the speakers talked about the pros, cons and nuances of both Private and Government Jobs.
The School of Law at
Bennett University has created its unique place in the minds of students because of its interdisciplinary approach to teaching pedagogy. The University has entered into an academic partnership with the Cornell Law School, USA for an intensive exchange of best practices, mutual visit of professors for Bennett students.
