EXCLUSIVE! Tisca Chopra on #MeToo: It has been a huge deterrent and a massive thing to achieve in India – Times of India

After Hollywood celebs got vocal about their #MeToo incidents with Harvey Weinstein, many women in Bollywood expressed their stories too with renowned personalities of the entertainment industry. Actress Tisca Chopra who was last seen in ‘Good Newwz’ also spoke at length about her casting couch experience in a video which had gone viral last year amidst the #MeToo wave in India. The actress was being called by a ‘reptile director’ to his room to discuss the script of a movie, however she managed to escape his evil plans.

We recently interacted with Tisca Chopra exclusively on ETimes Insta Live where we asked her on what she has to say about the #MeToo movement as it did create a stir but there was no outcome of this movement. Responding on the same, Tisca said, “I don’t know if it has worked here as much as it has worked in the West. Take Harvey Weinstein’s case for an example! I don’t know if we have reached that point, we haven’t reached that point in terms of getting people imprisoned and stuff like that. But I think what it has been is a huge deterrent and that is a massive thing to achieve in India.”

The actress was happy with the fact that it did garner the attention which was needed in our country owing to which many people were being careful about their approach towards women. Apart from the #MeToo movement, the actress also spoke about ‘Good Newwz’ which did wonders at the box office. Tisca was seen playing the role of a doctor in the movie. Talking about her experience of working in ‘Good Newwz’, Tisca said, “It was so much fun. It was so light and such a breeze to do that film because most of the films that I’ve done are sort of hard-hitting and strong roles. This was very breezy and at the same time, it had a subtle message which is you know a child is a child. I loved working with Raj Mehta and of course, it was my first Dharma film and we were trying to work together for some time. And of course, I love Kareena Kapoor, she’s such a delight and a wonderful girl to work with. Akshay, Kiara and Diljit, everyone was fabulous. I had a blast and I was also paired up with my old friend Adil who I’ve worked with quite a lot. So, it was lots of fun.”

The actress was to begin shooting for her upcoming projects however following the quarantine phase, all her projects have been put on hold! We wish things recover soon in India and life gets back to normal for all of us, so that Bollywood films can get back to business!
