What are the precautions you are taking since you got to know that your father is COVID-19 positive?
So, since we found out about my father’s positive results, we’re making sure that he is isolated and using only one room and one dedicated toilet to himself. His clothes, bed sheets and other used things are sanitized, washed and kept with utmost care. The rest of the family members are keeping a safe distance from him. But at the same time, we’re making sure he doesn’t feel lonely and left alone. His recovery is our primary concern so we’re making sure he takes enough fluids, rest and replenishes his energy levels.
How are you dealing with all this?
Initially, when the test results had not come and we were in limbo, it was absolutely an emotionally draining situation for me. Not knowing what has happened to my father and the unawareness of what will happen if we find negative / positive results kept me very down and depressed. I’m the middle man between my family and my dad during these days. I have to make sure my dad gets every necessary thing and at the same time, I also have to keep myself enough sanitized and sane where I can be safe for other family members and don’t become a carrier myself. Meditation and prayers helped me to take up all the day’s work without any stress.
You have a 15 month-old son Evaan. Was he around your father before he tested positive?
So, when my father started getting body aches and feeling feverish, he started keeping himself away from us and specially from Evaan since he’s too young. Evaan is confined to one room with his mom and spends most of the time in one room. In the evening, we take him to our garden.
Have the officials asked you to get the test done since you and your family were around your father?
We do not need to test ourselves since the protocols have changed now and you have to test only if you see any symptoms in you. So, the BMC has asked us to keep an eye on ourselves in case we see any symptoms in us.
Is the medical staff visiting your bungalow or you have to take your father to the hospital for examination?
The BMC was prompt to take action and they asked us if my father had any preconditions (diabetes, heart disease, cancer or anything). Fortunately, my father doesn’t have any of these and didn’t even have major symptoms of COVID-19 either. On top of it, we have enough rooms and toilets for his isolation. So, the BMC asked us if we can have him under home isolation. We were happy to do that. Also, that helped someone more needy to occupy a bed in the hospital.
Any message for your fans?
My fans have been pouring well wishes and positivity. So, I’m eternally thankful to them.
