Last week, all of B-town was reeling with the shock over the sad demises of not one but two acting stalwarts – Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor. Although bitter-sweet, we remember our greats for it is in those memories that they live on
.

Last Wednesday April 29, Bollywood and the world at large, lost one of its brightest stars – acting stalwart Irrfan Khan. He passed away at a hospital in Mumbai, where he was admitted for colon infection. At just 53, his demise not only sent shockwaves all through Bollywood but also had Hollywood stars including Oscar winners Ang Lee and Angelina Jolie paying heartfelt tributes to our dear Irrfan and sharing some of the fondest memories he left behind. After he was laid to rest, Irrfan’s wife Sutapa, and his sons Babil and Ayaan issued a tear-jerking statement while also assuring everyone “that this is not a loss, it is a gain.”

ust when everyone was still raw from the heartbreak of Irrfan’s demise, another shockwave came with the announcement of film legend Rishi Kapoor’s demise. After a two-year-long battle with leukaemia, Rishi breathed his last at a city hospital in Mumbai on April 30. The actor was cremated in the presence of his close family members. About 3 days after the funeral proceedings, the family hosted a prayer meeting on Sunday at their residence and later in the day, were seen performing a pooja as they immersed his ashes at Banganga in the city.

At a time when the country was in mourning, it seemed that internet trolls wasted no time in getting back into action and spewing venom on Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor Khan who were still coming to terms with the loss of actor Rishi Kapoor. While there, on one hand, there were those who tried to pick on Alia for being on her phone during the funeral without knowing she was face timing with Riddhima, others trolled Kareena for posting a picture of a cute moment Taimur shared with his father Saif Ali Khan as he braced for a haircut.

Meanwhile, not too far away from town, Salman Khan stepped in to lend a helping hand to the underprivileged. The star shared a video of himself and his family working together to make sure tractors full of essential goods and food items were delivered to the needy.

Ending the week quite literally on a song, all of B-town came together for a four-hour-long musical extravaganza to raise funds for COVID-19 relief efforts and to salute the braveheart frontline workers. While Akshay Kumar kicked the show off with a poem, and everyone from A R Rahman to Nick Jonas, Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh joined in with a song along with a host of other exhilarating performances. But, there was no denying that the best was kept for last with AbRam Khan stealing the show from daddy Shah Rukh Khan that has since had the online world buzzing.
